Position Overview
The Night Custodian maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary campus environment during after-hours operations. This role is responsible for standard facility cleaning as well as post-game turnover for athletic venues, gymnasiums, and surrounding campus grounds following evening sporting events.
Key Responsibilities
- Post-Event Cleanup: Clear debris, sweep bleachers, mop spills, and haul heavy trash.
- Routine Daily Sanitation: Sweep, mop, vacuum, and scrub floors across cafeteria, classrooms, administrative offices, hallways, and common areas.
- Restroom & Locker Room Care: Thoroughly disinfect, scrub, and sanitize all restrooms, shower facilities, and locker rooms; restock soap, paper towels, and paper products daily.
- Surface & Waste Management: Empty all indoor and outdoor trash and recycling receptacles; dust fixtures and disinfect high-touch surfaces (doorknobs, handrails, light switches).
- Equipment & Inventory: Operate floor buffers, auto-scrubbers, and carpet extractors safely; maintain custodial closets and notify management when supplies run low.
Qualifications & Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
- Prior commercial cleaning, custodial, or event setup/breakdown experience preferred.
- Ability to work flexible night shifts, including late evenings and weekends aligned with game schedules.
- Physical stamina to stand, bend, stoop, climb stairs, and lift or carry up to 50 lbs throughout the shift.
- Familiarity with standard cleaning chemicals, safe dilution practices, and floor care machinery.
Working Conditions
This position involves physical activity in both indoor facilities and outdoor athletic areas during evening hours. Exposure to standard cleaning solutions and post-event noise or crowd debris is expected.
