Job Description: Substitute Cafeteria Worker

Position Type: On-Call / As-Needed

Reports To: Food Service Director / Cafeteria Manager

Position Summary

West Fork School District is seeking dependable, hardworking individuals to join our child nutrition team as Substitute Cafeteria Workers. This position provides flexible, on-call support to ensure our students receive healthy, well-prepared meals in a safe and welcoming environment. No prior experience is necessary—we will train you!

Key Responsibilities

• Food Service & Prep: Assist with basic food preparation, setting up serving lines, and serving meals to students and staff in a friendly manner.

• Cleaning & Sanitation: Wash dishes, trays, and cooking utensils. Clean and sanitize counters, tables, and kitchen equipment following proper food safety guidelines.

• Team Support: Follow instructions from cafeteria managers and work collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure smooth daily meal service.

• Safety & Compliance: Maintain clean hygiene standards and adhere to health code regulations.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.

• Experience: None required! (A positive attitude and willingness to learn are all you need.)

• Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass state-mandated Arkansas Child Maltreatment and FBI/State background checks.

  • Ability to stand, bend, and move for extended periods during shift.

  • Ability to safely lift up to 30–35 lbs.
