Middle School/High School Art Teacher

Position Summary
The Art Teacher will inspire and guide students in grades 5–12 through a comprehensive visual arts curriculum. The successful candidate will foster a creative environment where students develop technical skills, aesthetic appreciation, and an understanding of art history. This role requires the ability to differentiate instruction for a wide developmental range, from introductory middle school projects to advanced high school portfolios.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Instructional Delivery: Plan and implement high-quality art lessons aligned with the Arkansas Fine Arts Academic Standards (Creating, Presenting, Responding, and Connecting).

Curriculum Development: Design projects across various media, including drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, and digital media, ensuring age-appropriate complexity for both middle and high school students.

Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, orderly, and productive studio environment; oversee the proper use and maintenance of art tools and equipment (kilns, cutters, etc.).

Assessment: Evaluate student progress through portfolios, critiques, and performances, providing constructive feedback to encourage artistic growth.

Art Promotion: Organize and curate student art exhibitions within the school and local Arkansas community.

Professionalism: Participate in district-level professional development and maintain professional learning as required by the District and State.
Qualifications & Requirements

Licensure: Must hold a valid Arkansas Standard Professional Educator License with an endorsement in Art (K-12).

Note: Candidates currently enrolled in an ADE-approved Arkansas Professional Educator Pathway (ArPEP) or holding a Provisional License may be considered.

State Compliance: Must have completed or be willing to complete Arkansas-mandated training, including but not limited to:

Child Maltreatment Awareness

Teen Suicide Prevention

Dyslexia Awareness

Background Check: Successful completion of the Arkansas State Police and FBI criminal background checks and the Child Maltreatment Central Registry check.
Preferred Skills

Experience with T.E.S.S.

Strong knowledge of contemporary art trends.

Experience in vertical alignment and transitioning students from middle school basics to high school mastery.
