In this role, the educator is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in a primary content area—English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, or Social Studies—while fostering a classroom environment that encourages curiosity and critical thinking. Beyond delivering curriculum, the teacher must be adept at managing the unique energy of middle schoolers, building strong interpersonal relationships, and collaborating with a team of educators to ensure every student is prepared for the rigors of high school.

Core Responsibilities

  • Curriculum & Instruction: Design and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons that translate complex concepts into age-appropriate, relatable content.
  • Differentiated Learning: Adapt instructional materials and teaching methods to support a wide range of learners, including those with specialized learning plans (IEPs/504s) and advanced learners.
  • Classroom Environment: Build a structured yet inclusive classroom culture that emphasizes mutual respect, emotional safety, and high behavioral expectations.
  • Assessment & Feedback: Regularly evaluate student performance through various assessment tools and provide constructive, timely feedback to drive academic growth.
  • Professional Collaboration: Participate in grade-level and departmental meetings to coordinate interdisciplinary projects and discuss student intervention strategies.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain proactive and professional contact with families and guardians to share progress updates and address any behavioral or academic concerns.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensure: Valid state teaching certification for middle grades or willingness to obtain licensure in this area.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with educational technology, including Google Workspace for Education.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication skills and the ability to remain patient and adaptable in a fast-paced school environment.
